What is RSS?

RSS means "Really Simple Syndication" and it's like turbo-charged bookmarking.

It is an easy way to keep up to date with all the new information on your favourite web-sites.

  • A viewer accepts the RSS link from a site.

  • All new pages and information that are put on the web-site are released through RSS.

  • The viewer's RSS link is informed about the new information immediately.

  • The viewer is made aware of the updates, without having to check the web-sites individually and without having to browse through the site to find out if anything is new.

  • No e-mail, no spam, just the new information on your favourite sites presented directly to you.

  • You receive updates only from the feeds YOU subscribe to.
You won't get sent a load of content you are not interested in.

Firstly, a Reader must be downloaded.

Windows -- RssReader
http://www.rssreader.com/

Mac -- NetNewsWire
http://ranchero.com/netnewswire/

When you have a web-site you want to follow, right-click (control-click on a Mac) on the orange RSS button on the site.

Select Copy Shortcut (Copy Link with a Mac) and paste that URL into your RSS Reader. That's all.

If you already have an account with Yahoo, MSN or Google, then you don’t have to download any software. To add the RSS to your account, simply click on one of the buttons below.
