More Photoshop Backgrounds



The first example of Photoshop backgrounds is again with the Gradient,
while the second uses the Cloud filter.

  1. Make a square file 1800px x 1800px @ 300ppi

  2. In the toolbox, have a yellow foreground colour and white as the background.

  3. Press G for the Gradient Tool and in the top options bar choose the Linear Gradient.

  4. Draw a gradient from top to bottom, while holding Shift to keep the line straight.

  5. Create a new layer and draw another gradient from left to right.

  6. Set the top layer to Difference mode

  7. Create a second new layer

  8. Choose a red foreground colour and using the Radial Gradient draw from the centre out to one of the corners.

  9. Set the layer to Difference mode

  10. Create a third new layer.

  11. Press X to make white the foreground colour and red the background.

  12. Draw a Reflected Gradient from the middle down to the bottom.
    This should give red across the top and bottom and a band of white across the middle. If it is the other way round, check the Reverse box in the options bar and draw the gradient again.

  13. Set mode to Difference.

  14. Go to Filter > Distort > Twirl and enter a setting of 400. OK.





Example 2

Try this for creating a Marble Effect. photoshop free tutorials

  1. Create a new file with a white background.
  2. In the toolbox, set a foreground colour of dirty pink and a background colour of white.

  3. Go to Filter > Render > Difference Clouds

  4. Apply the filter several times with Crtl + F / Cmd + F to accentuate the marble vein effect.

  5. Create a new layer, and fill it with white.

  6. Using the same colours, run the filter several times and set the layer to Difference mode.

  7. Create a new layer, filled with white.

  8. Choose a blue as the foreground colour and a white background.

  9. Run the Difference Clouds filters several times and set to Difference mode.

  10. Create a fourth layer, filled with white.

  11. Using the same blue and white colours, fill the layer with a Linear Gradient.

  12. Set to Color mode and invert with Ctrl + I / Cmd + I.

Other modes will give quite a different result.
