Learn to Photoshop How it was done
The idea is to give this image more atmosphere and produce an antique look.
- The image was duplicated in the Layers panel.
- Turn off the visibility of the top layer.
- The Background image was made active and an Adjustment layer for Black & White was added.
The default settings are a good average starting point but the opportunity is there to give colours a brighter or darker tone. - A tint can be added here also, and a very pale orange was added.
- Turn on the visibility of the top layer.
A change of Mode and Opacity will give some colour to the final image. Several Modes can improve the result and it's all a matter of taste and how strong an effect you want to achieve. I settled on Vivid Light at 25%. - Flatten the image.
- To darken the corners and create a vignette Lens Correction was opened. The Vignette sliders of Amount and Midpoint create this effect.
- Some noise texture would help. That is found under Filter > Noise > Add Noise. A small amount of Gaussian Monochrome noise does the business.
