Learn to Photoshop
How it was done

learn how to use photoshop

The original photograph was all right as far as it went. Exposure had been kept short to make a silhouette. Evenso I thought more points of interest could be added.

  • The figure was photographed from below to give an angle of view that would be compatible with the main image.

  • The figure was cut out and darkened into a near silhouette.

The hat was shaped to make it look like a round hard hat.

  • The chain was also photographed from very low down and positioned to suit the crane.

  • The chain layer was duplicated twice and given different amounts of Motion Blur to give it the effect of moving and swinging.

When creating a composite image, it's important to take plenty of trouble choosing angles and perspectives that are going to be compatible with each other. Without that, the result can look strange and distorted.
