Anchor in a Storm

learn to photoshop Whenever one comes across something interesting, it's worth taking photographs, even if no immediate use for the images can be found.

Out for a Sunday walk, I came across this river. It's normally quite placid but heavy rain in the hills had swelled it to a wilder state. It was worth taking a series of pictures.

  • The anchor and chain were cut out with the Pen Tool.

  • Two images from the river were combined to make a larger image.

  • The combined image was Colorized with Hue & Saturation and given extra contrast.

  • The anchor was dragged on to the stormy water image.

  • The anchor layer was duplicated and given some Motion Blur.

  • The opacity of the Motion Blur layer was reduced so that it did not dominate the sharp anchor too much.

  • In the Layers panel, masks were added to the two anchor layers.
Using a black brush the rear anchor blade was partially concealed to make it look as though it was under water.
