Learn to Photoshop How it was done
Toast flying from a colourful toaster.
- The Gradient Map dialogue box was opened with Image > Adjustments > Gradient Map.
Any combination of colours can be used here as with the Gradient Tool. - The selected toaster was filled with the Gradient colours.
The dark tones in the image change to the darker colours from the Map; lighter tones are changed to the lighter colours.
- The heating elements would look better if glowing.
- A bright red brush with 50% hardness was used to paint in the straight lines of the elements. This was done on a separate layer so that any changes and corrections could be made more easily.
- Two slices of toast were photographed from different angles but compatible with them flying up out of the toaster.
- Each slice of toast was treated separately.
- The toast was selected via Channels and cut out from the background.
- They were rotated and positioned.
- Two new layers were made of each slice and these copy layers were given different amounts of Motion Blur to give the blurred movement effect.
- After flattening, the final task was to apply a little Gaussian Noise.
The Motion Blur filter means the texture of all parts of the image will not look the same and the Gaussian Noise merges everything in better.
