Learn to Photoshop How it was done
Very often, the more that can be done in camera the easier things can be. Only the clouds and ripples in the sea were added in Photoshop here.
- The countries of the globe were painted on to the goldfish bowl.
The bowl with the fish swimming around was photographed.
The light was a large window light above the bowl and pointing directly down.
The background was white with blue acetate over part of the light so that the blue went over the background and not over the subject.
It's useful to build up a collection of skies and clouds. They can be very convenient for adding on to other images.
- The cloud-sky background was dragged on to the image and merged in with the base with the help of a mask.
- The bowl was selected with the Pen Tool and this became the Work Path.
- The Work Path was turned into a selection of marching ants and given a small feather.
Any cloud-sky that fell over the bowl was deleted.
This image came from my own collection of photographs of ripples. Like clouds, they can often be used to add atmosphere and texture to other images.
- The curvature of the ripples was created with the Warp function, by modifying the Fisheye option.
- The ripples image was dragged on to the image and placed above the bowl layer
- A mask was added to the ripples layer.
- Using a slightly soft brush, some of the ripples layer was hidden to reveal the bowl, land mass and background sky.
- The opacity of the ripples was changed to 15%.
