I have a photo of a cat and I want to transfer its skin on to the image of a girl, how can I do this?

Displacement map

1. The idea is to wrap the cat fur around the contours of the person. This can be done with a Photoshop function called a 'Displacement Map'. The two images being used already must be of matching size and resolution.

2. The girl image will be used to reshape the fur and will be the 'displacement map'. Such a file must be a flattened Photoshop file. Save the image of the girl on to the Desktop as a Photoshop file and call it 'Girl'. Leave the image open.

3. With the fur image active go to Filter > Distort > Displace. Start of with Horizontal and Vertical set to 10. Click OK.

4. A new box opens and at the top says, 'Choose a displacement map'. Select the file 'Girl' which you have just put on the Desktop and click Open. The fur image will become distorted although it is a little difficult to notice yet. Toggle on and off with Ctrl + Z / Cmd + Z to see the difference.

5. With the Move Tool, V, hold the Shift key and drag the fur on to the face image.

6. In the Layers panel, change the Mode of the fur to Multiply.
Opacity also needs to be adjusted sometimes so try reducing it.

7. With a mask and a soft brush, clean up the edge of the fur so that it merges in better with the girl.
